A founding member of the Walk To Bust Cancer Team, Mary Edwards began her brave breast cancer journey in 2015. She and her family created and donated these wings to symbolize those battling, those helping and those watching from a higher place. Mary is watching from that higher place now.

 

We honor Mary by permanently labeling this display as Mary's Wings, not simply as the creator but for her warrior spirit and her unwavering joy of life. No matter the trial or tribulation, her smile remained the same throughout her battle. We hope that her spirit brings a smile and hope to everyone.

Mary's husband Jason, daughter Dakota, and son Hunter join us with the original Wings every year at the walk; they are a popular photo opportunity for our Walkers to commemorate this special day.  Replicas of the Wings can be found traveling throughout Alexandria during the month of October.
